Netflix show Insatiable criticised for suggesting 'bisexuals don't exist'
Viewers of Netflix's Insatiable have expressed fresh rage on social media after a character suggested bisexual people perform not exist.
In one scene, Bob Armstong, a character who is coming to terms with his bisexuality, said: "Bisexuals are like demons or aliens. They don't exist."
Another character agreed and added: "Bi is just a stop on the train to Gayville".
As the story unfolded, Armstrong was repeatedly told he was not bisexual and must be gay.
Eventually, he came to terms with his bisexuality and the comments were revealed as internalised biphobia.
But some social media users have claimed the show contributes to 'bi-erasure' - a legal title used to describe an aim to deny bisexual people exist.

Dallas Roberts and His LGBTQ (and LGBTQ-Friendly) Roles
Surprisingly, star Dallas Roberts plays male lover, a lot!
Recently, I contain been pondering why this was and I'm not alone in this, either. I can only take for granted it has to execute with gender stereotypes within our societal norms and Hollywood, honestly, hasn’t been helping to break these said stereotypes. Dallas Roberts doesn’t scream “action celestial body hero” man. He is not the testosterone-pumpin’, gun-totin’, cigar-smokin’ alpha-male stereotype, so he gets classified as:
- The sensitive man — Milton Mamet, Angus Partridge, Jonathan Glover, Miles Fiedler, Dr. Dylan Wallace, Pete Hendrick, Gus Broeberg
- The beta male — Milton Mamet, Angus Partridge, Jonathan Glover, Pete Hendrick
- The asexual — Milton Mamet
- The virgin — Milton Mamet
- The nerd/geek/intellectual — Milton Mamet, Miles Fiedler, Owen Cavanaugh, Titus Irving Gerrard, Dr. Dylan Wallace, Dr. Abel Hazard, Matt, Ned Davidoff, Jonathan Glover, Owen Cavanaugh, Matthew Blanchard, Patrick, Mopekey
- The aesthete — Angus Partridge, Titus Irving Gerrard, Charlie Crowe, Matt, Ned Davidoff, Patrick
- The innocent bystander — Milton Mamet, Dr. Dylan Wallace, Ned Davidoff, Pete Hend

From R302's post, regarding Jonathan Harris:
The second of three children, Harris was born to a poor family on November 6, 1914, in the Bronx, New York City. His parents were Sam and Jennie Charasuchin, Russian Jewish immigrants who worked in Manhattan's garment district.[3] His family resided in a six-tenant apartment complex. To lift money, his mother took in boarders, some of whom were given Jonathan's bed, relegating Jonathan to sleep on dining room chairs. From the age of 12, he worked as a pharmacy clerk.
While there was little funds for luxuries, Jonathan's father took actions to expand his son's cultural horizons. This included trips to the Yiddish Theatre, where he was encouraged by his father to listen to opera. Young Jonathan was enthralled. He discarded his Bronx accent and began to cultivate more urbane English tones. Although he could seldom afford tickets to them, Broadway plays were also an early interest. As a teenager, he also developed interests in archaeology, Latin, romantic poetry and Shakespeare.
In 1931, at age 16, he graduated from James Monroe High University, where his classmates included Estelle Reiner. He
