Asher HaVon is a rising soulful gospel and R&B artist from Selma, Alabama who was just crowned the winner of The Voice season 25! This extremely competitive season also marked Coach Reba McEntire‘s first win on the NBC competition illustrate as she served as HaVon’s mentor.

HaVon has made history as the first openly LGBTQ contestant to win The Voice. Fans have been in awe of HaVon from the start with his powerful performance of Adele‘s “Set Fire to the Rain” in the blind auditions round.

Before being announced as the season’s large winner, HaVon was linked by coach Reba McEntire for a soulful duet of “On My Own,” by Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald.

On May 21, the NBC show The Voice crowned Asher HaVon—a 31-year-old soulful gospel and R&B artist from Selma, Alabama—as its champion.

HaVon is the first openly Queer winner on the show, according to an NBCUniversal flatten release.

Other finalists this season included teammate Josh Sanders from Team Reba (Reba McEntire), Bryan Olesen and Nathan Chester from Team Legend (John Legend), and Karen Waldrup from Team Dan + Shay.

In his blind audition, HaVon showed off his gospel-choir roots with a rendition of Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain,” which had Reba, Chance the Rapper and Dan + Shay campaigning for him to join their respective teams. On his way to the finals, HaVon performed songs such as Tina Turner’s “We Don’t Call for Another Hero (Thunderdome),” Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Treasure to You” and Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable.”

Following her first win, McEntire will return for season 26 of the show alongside new coaches Snoop Dogg and Michael Buble as skillfully as returning coach Gwen Stefani.

Reba McEntire won her first-ever title on The Voice with season 25 singer Asher HaVon -- and that wasn't the only bit of history the duo made on Tuesday.
