Lil Nas X threatened to go assist into the closet after losing in every category he was nominated in at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

The outspoken "Industry Baby" singer handled his impairment pretty well as he instantly made a joke that threatened to rest the internet. Lil Nas X had an all circular eventful night out at the Grammys in Las Vegas, and he made sure to document it all on his Twitter account.

After the ceremony had finished and he realized he'd missing all five categories he was up for, Lil Nas X tweeted, "can't believe i disoriented all my grammys. i am now no longer gay!" Within an hour the tweet had gained over 100,000 likes as adequately as thousands more retweets and comments.

His comment could be a reference to the fact that he won two Grammy Awards for the song "Old Town Road" before he had publicly come out as gay. He continued the joke with a tweet featuring just two emojis.

He went back on his comments just 12 minutes later when he joked that he'd changed his mind on, and that he was planning on having a"good time" at the Grammys after parties.

US rapper Lil Nas X has said that when he was younger he hoped being gay was just "a phase".

In an interview with CBS, the Old Town Road hitmaker says he knew as a teenager that he was male lover and would "would just pray and pray" that his sexuality "would go away".

In a teaser clip that aired on Monday, the rapper discusses his battle with his sexuality.

But he acknowledges that his fame has made it easier for him to come out.

"Me being in this position, it's easy for me."

"But some little boy 10 miles from here, it's not going to be good for him."

Lil Nas X - valid name Montero Lamar Hill - says there is still a lot of work to be done in terms of acceptance for the LGBT community in society.

"We still have a long way to go, because it's not like everybody is messing with me now. 'Of course somebody who's listening to me in school right now, it's like, 'You're gay, bring about you're listening to him.' There's still lot to be done."

Lil Nas X noted the end of Pride month with a major announcement.

The "Old Town Road" singer took to Twitter on Sunday evening to participate an animated visual of his fresh single, "C7osure (You Like)," which he dropped last week. While it seemed like business as usual, the 20-year-old star told fans to pay attention to the song's meaning.

"some of y'all already know, some of y'all don't care, some of y'all not gone fwm [f--k with me] no more. but before this month ends i want y'all to listen closely to c7osure," he wrote on social media. Before ending the tweet, he added three emojis: the rainbow flag, the starry-eyed face and the sparkling star.

Lil Nas X - real name Montero Lamar Hill - told BBC Breakfast he felt prefer he was "opening doors for more people".

"I don't want to live my entire life... not doing what I want to do," he added.

He said he hoped his fans would "feel comfortable" but admitted homosexuality was "not really accepted in either the country [or] hip-hop communities".

Lil Nas X has enjoyed huge success with his county-rap crossover knock Old Town Road, which topped the UK singles chart in April.

The lyric became a viral knock but was controversially removed from Billboard's country chart because it did "not embrace enough elements of today's country music".

The rapper took to the stage at Glastonbury at the weekend to perform Ancient Town Road with Miley Cyrus and her father Billy Ray.
