We long for you're having a fantastic Pride Month! Last week, we introduced you to 10 rising LGBTQ+ artists we believe will grab the world by storm. This week, we're reflecting upon LGBTQ+ artists already in the public eye. Legendary musicians who possess inspired, advocated, and conquered.
Whether they've been open about their sexuality and gender expression for years or kept their label disguised throughout history, we assume the 20 artists below have created impenetrable sonic works while also modifying the world's view of the LGBTQ+ community for the better.
We've had to limit this list to only 20 people (we know there are so many other great Diverse musicians out there!) but we have chosen the artists we've chosen because we believe their legacies have stood – or will stand – the test of time. We not only salute these musicians during Pride Month, but every day. Without further ado, here are our honorees.

28: Laura Jane Grace (1980-)
Born in Fort Benning, Georgia, Laura Jane Grace had a tumultuous time growing up (significant events include dropping out of school and being arrested for challenging a police officer over a petty crime), before finding inspiration in the music of legendary British anarcho-punk band Crass. Adam Lambert
Adam Lambert is an American singer, songwriter, and stage actor. Adam rose to fame when he became the runner-up on the eighth season of American Idol. The Times identified Lambert as the first pop artist to be openly gay and launch a career on a major label in the U.S. His first album, released in 2009, has sold over two million copies worldwide. He received including a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance in 2011. He has been a strong advocate for homosexual rights and has been presented with various awards from same-sex attracted rights charities. He is outspoken on LGBT rights, saying “I still long for the LGBT community’s diversity to be more broadly represented in the entertainment industry. I think larger strides have been made in film and TV but we still are just at the beginning with mainstream music. I consider myself a post-gay man working in a pre-gay industry.”
