Gay coming out stories

Sometimes, help comes in the most unexpected places. After my coming out encounter, I became eternally grateful for the amount of support and empathy that was given to me by both my friends and my family. Although I lost quite a few friends and acquaintances in the process, the rewards of self-confidence and seeing the sincerity in the relationships that I had with the people in my life made the entire experience worth it in the end.

I always knew I was different from the other boys on the playground but I never consideration homosexuality was a lousy thing — my father always told me that being different was organism different and nothing more than that. In elementary school, I would proceed around and tell boys and girls that I had crushes on them and nobody thought anything of the antics, I felt reassured that entity different was acceptable.

In Junior High school however, everything seemed to change. All of a sudden the boys were expected to wear a certain design of clothes, act a certain way, and deal with girls in a particular manner. I remember creature extremely confused but also confident in my differences from these boys but as the years progressed, it became more and more difficult. B

A Tale of Three Coming Out Stories

We are still in that time in our history where public figures reach out of concealed closets largely built by a general insatiable in its desire to comprehend all the intimate details of the private lives of very public people.

We want to perceive everything. In this information age, we are inundated with information, to which at times we feel entitled. We also like taxonomy, classification, definition. Are you a gentleman or a woman? Are you a Democrat or Republican? Are you married or single? Are you gay or straight? We don’t seem to realize what to undertake when we don’t know the answers to these questions, or worse, when the answers to these questions accomplish not fall neatly into a category.

When public figures don’t provide outward evidence of their sexuality, our desire to classify intensifies. Any number of celebrities are dogged by “gay rumors,” because we cannot quite place them into a given category. We act fond of placing these people in categories will have some impact on our lives, or that it is our responsibility, when, most of the time, it won’t change anything at all. There is nothing in my life that is impacted by knowing Ricky Martin, for example, is gay. T

Here are three different coming out experiences from young people in North Lanarkshire:

 

I was 16 when I came out as gay, I was nervous to reveal anyone but when I started to tell people it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. Most people already knew that I was gay because they could say when they first saw me or when I was minuscule. I came out just when the film Love, Simon came out in cinema. There was a scene where Simon got outed in front of his school and he got bullied for it and I was thinking what if that happens to me? But luckily it didn’t. My brother also start out that I was same-sex attracted, but later he died and a while after he passed my aunt told me that he accepted me as creature gay and this made me happy.

But over all my family and friends all accepted me for who I was. I was supported loads by my youth workers and my LGBTQI+ youth group where I include made a lot of unused friends.
