Lumber Yard Bar Announces New Location…Snohomish County To Get Recent Gay Bar

All sorts of gay prevent news to declare today including the official confirmation of something we’ve already discussed. Co-owner Nathan Adams Farrar just announced via social media that they’ve signed a lease for a unused location for The Lumber Yard Block and have begun work on remodeling the space.

For those of you out of the loop, The Lumber Yard Bar and several other businesses in White Center, Washington, the miniature community and suburb southwest of Seattle in unincorporated King County, was destroyed in an arson set fire premature in the morning of July 5, 2021. The LGBTQ community rallied to help them construct again in the weeks after the flame by contributing thousands of dollars to help them renew.

Later in July, we heard through the grapevine (by eavesdropping on conversations at a Alabaster Center BBQ joint) that Lumber Yard Bar owners were working on a deal to shift the bar across the street from the original lock located on 16th Avenue SW. The first decade of the AIDS epidemic in Washington was a time of intense debate, uncertainty, and social modify. Initially most cases and resources were focused within King County, where the state's first recorded case was reported in Seattle in 1982. AIDS wasn't identified in Snohomish County until 1984, and the county continued to track slowly but inexorably behind the curve in case numbers. Efforts to train the public and set preventative measures in place were generally considered to be successful, but Snohomish County consistently lacked sufficient resources to provide medical care and home protect for AIDS patients. By 1990, 96 county residents had been diagnosed with AIDS, and most of them had died. In Part 1, the AIDS crisis deepens.
