Portland has no shortage of LGBTQ-owned and queer-friendly bars and clubs. Whether you’re looking for a secure space to love a relaxing evening with friends, a high-energy dance party or a kingly show, Portland delivers.
North Portland
Florida Room is both queer-friendly and dog-friendly. Enjoy a drink with your favorite two-legged and four-legged friends on one of their two patios.
Eagle Portland is Portland’s leather bar and place base for the Oregon Bears. Guests who wear a leather harness, vest, chaps, or packed drag with “significant effort,” get in free on Friday or Saturday nights.

This weekend, venues around Central Oregon are hosting parties to celebrate Pride. Celebrations in honor of the 2SLGBTQIA+ group include a Friday night "Cliché Queer" dance party at Volcanic Theatre Pub on the west side and the Saturday night "Big. Queer. Party." at Open Space on the east side. Right in the middle of all that action, a new, queer-owned coffee shop will be marking its first days in operation; Turtle Island Coffee Shop, located on Oregon Avenue next door to both The Capitol and Wild Rose, opened this week, just in time for Pride.

Co-owners Teh Sanchez and Beth Brady took over the space, once occupied by Bend Mountain Coffee, naming the new shop "Turtle Island" in honor of the indigenous creation story that imagines the human universe created on the back of a turtle.

I've been working with the Human Dignity Coalition since 2002 and one of the things I am most proud of is the feedback we earn that our events sense safe for our whole community. Whether it is Bend Pride or our drop-in nights for youthful people who are queer woman , gay, bisexual, trangender, gender non-conforming or questioning (LGBTQ), we want all people to feel welcome and acknowledged. In small town Angle , there are no queer bars or youth centers that serve people who are LGBTQ. HDC strives to bridge this gap, providing social opportunities as well as services for our community.
HDC's annual Performative Show has been happening since 2003, with the support of the nationally known Drag performer Poison Waters. She can often be seen in Portland at the Darcelle XV Showplace. Darcelle, a fellow Drag performer of 50 years, is being established this year as a Trans Hero by the National Gay and Womxn loving womxn Task Force as organism "one of the most Trans supportive personalities in the United States."
